We currently have five seasonal Ecologists working for CGO Ecology. Here's what some of them had to say about their job.
Ian Bradley from Northumberland said of his time with CGO Ecology:
"Working for CGO Ecology has been a fantastic experience over the last few months. CGO Ecology encourages the freedom of self-reliance, and offers opportunities for new experience with the back-up of professional, experienced and approachable senior staff members. Their 'can do' attitude is refreshing and rare within consultancies nowadays.
"The generosity of CGO Ecology also allows staff to volunteer for Wildlife Trusts and other local wildlife groups, by donating their paid time, and by encouraging staff to share expert advice with budding ecologists and grass roots volunteers, encouraging an interest in wildlife within the local community.
"As well as working in Kent, Hampshire and Dorset, my time has been used to train two volunteers in Northumberland in ecological surveying techniques and the importance of biological recording at a local level.
"During our time in the Northeast, we have covered visual reptile and amphibian surveys, butterfly, orchid and Odonata transects. Identification skills, use of GPS to record grid references, and other ecological knowledge was also shared.
"The highlights for me so far have been smooth snake, sand lizard and nightjar surveys in Dorset for National Trust, Dorset County Council and other clients; but the stand-out experience was raft spider transects in Dorset, an amazing experience."
